Description
Vintage early plastic Merry Maid laundry sprinkler, made and promoted in America by companies such as Aliance. Circa 1950-1960’s. Used to sprinkle water onto clothing to generate steam when ironing clothes. Once electric irons became the normal with built in sprinklers, these Merry maids found a second use in Australia in Take Away Fish & Chip shops, where they were used to sprinkle vinegar onto your chips. Their painted faces are often worn away, but each Merry Maid represents nostalgia through the decades. Merry Maid measures approximately 17cm high x 9.5cm wide.
