Italian Made Bitossi Jug, circa 1980’s. Use for refreshments, or as a vase. Age related wear, but no chips or cracks.
The 5th generation factory is still manufacturing today in the Montelupo Fiorentino area, Tuscany, Italy. They’ve been trading since 1921. It was the appointment of designer Aldo Londi in the 1950’s that undoubtedly made Bitossi famous and highly collectable ever since. He joined the company in 1946 and became artistic director. His Rimini Blu range was launched in 1959 is what collectors prize today. They have depth of colour, the glaze is heavy. This jug is a much later creation, but it retains that same ‘pop’ of colour, which will bring cheer to your home or office.
