Winston Churchill Crown was released in the United Kingdom in 1965 on his death, as a commemorative.  Most were kept as a momento of arguably the UK’s greatest statesmen and politicians.  Churchill was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II from 1940-1945 and again from 1950-1955.  He was an artist and an author of many books.

The crown is made from copper/nickel.  It weighs 28.28g and has a diameter of 38.61mm.  The coin was not included in demonetisation legislation when decimilasation  was introduced in 1971.  It has been confirmed by the Royal Mint that the coin remains legal tender, having been remonetised with a value of 25 pence.  (50 cents Australian)

The coin remains popular today with coin & militaria collectors.  The odd one being fashioned as a pendant or money clip.
