In 1945 a young man by the name of Jorge De Rosa Thompson enrolled in the country of Argentina’s National School of Ceramic Design. The Escuela Nacional de Ceramica, located in the capital city of Buenos Aires was home to world class artists and professors – the likes of Fernando Arranz and Antonio Berni. Jorge thrived in this fascinating new environment, exhibiting a special passion for the craft of ceramic design. Upon graduating, he stayed on at the school as a professor, while beginning his own career as a ceramicist, creating and designing works of art for homes and businesses located along the banks of the River Plate.
Now a team of artisans continue in his stead. Known internationally for its artistic use of platinum, 18ct gold and vibrant enamel glazes, these animals of the world figurines are hand carved and hand painted pottery/ceramic from Montevideo in Uruguay.
