Papua New Guinea Lower Sepik River Mask. Beginning with a sea turtle shell as a base, red clay has been moulded on top of the shell, creating a mask. It has then been decorated with woven plant matter, feathers and shells, then hand painted. It is an extraordinary piece of art. The Lower Sepik River is famous for their artisan made craft. The mask measures approximately 27cm in diameter.
