During WWII American soldiers drank the Coca Cola brand soft drink all over the world.  It was a popular drink in Germany, manufactured there and well advertised throughout the country.  As the War progressed and propaganda intensified, German citizens were encouraged to buy only German products, so an alternative had to be found to the foreign American cola.

Afri-Cola was the answer.  The Germans had the recipe.  They blatantly copied the bottle shape, style, lettering, dating and wording of the original, with a slight wording modification.  The palm tree trademark makes it a beautifully styled bottle. German civilians & Wehrmacht soldiers alike drank Afri-Cola where ever they were stationed.

The marketing slogan for the new advertising was: … auch hier bekommen sie Afri Cola – gut und Deutsch! In English: You can get Afri- Cola here.  It’s good and it’s German!
