Disney’s Gus Mouse by Australian Pottery Company MCP

Jaq (Jacques) and Gus (Octavius) are two mice who serve as Cinderella’s sidekicks and closest confidants.  Gus the mouse is courageous and resourceful – a true asset in Cinderella’s life.  He was the first of her loyal companions to be introduced in the story, as she freed him from a deadly mouse trap.  MCP (Modern Ceramic Products) was founded by Tom & Jean Mingay, who had worked in the pottery industry in England.  The company produced a range of high quality ceramic products, including vases, bowls and figurines.  In the 1950’s MCP produced a large range of Disney cartoon figurines under licence from Disney.  Some were based on American designs, others were created by MCP.  Despite its success, MCP Mingay closed its doors in 1957 due to increasing competition from imported ceramics.
