Composite Buttons x 5 (code 522)

Description

Composite Buttons made from a mixture of substances.  They are sometimes called ‘end of day’ buttons because at the end of the day the button maker would throw all the left-overs into the mix and come up with these unique composites.  “They’re just like a box of chocolates, you never know what you gunna get”. May be solid colours or mixed speckled colours.  Those with metallic spots were originally called ‘flecks’. Some contain pieces of shell.  Made in the early 1900’s. The buttons on this card are actually antique (over 100 years). The card may contain, whistle buttons – one hole in the top and two in the bottom. Sew up through one hole and down through the other.  The cotton is hidden in centre of the button. You will receive these five buttons (4 whistle buttons and one sew thru). Approx 18mm.  Composite buttons are one of my favourites!
