Australian Show Prize Koala Figurine

From the 1930’s to the 1950’s in Australia, these cheaply made and hand painted figurines were produced and given away as carnival prizes.  If you hooked a duck, got three numbers on the clowns or hit the heights with the hammer for example you won a prize.  This was it.  They are rare survivors from decades past… little pieces of Australian annual show time history.

There are chips and flaking to this figurine – part of its character.  Measures 34cm in height x 16cm.
