Aladdin Bakelite Lamp with stand and font

Description

This Aladdin Lamp consists of a stand in two pieces with original box, the lamp font, brass burner with wick, a new glass chimney and three mantles – two mantles the same age as the lamp and one ‘newer’ mantle.  Only one mantle is in working condition.  The screw in part of the bakelite base has two small chips.  In the close up the main chip is located bottom centre of the photo.  The second chip is towards the top left of the photo at 10 o’clock.  It’s more a flea bite that you need to run your finger along to find it, but it’s there.

I’m told that the cream colour of the lamp is nowhere as common as the brown versions, and that the creamy white colour was made specifically for churches, nunneries and hospitals.  I don’t know whether that is true or not, but it’s a good story!
