Description
Still in their original packaging these two small cardboard jigsaw puzzles were used to promote ETA Peanut Butter. From the 1940’s – 1960’s Peanut Butter was sold in condiment jars. Once you consumed the product – in this case, peanut butter, you collected the glass tumbler to re-use. Jars could contain lemon curd, jam & conserves, vegemite & marmite, nuts, cocktail onions & savoury pastes. ETA tumblers were usually released in a sets of four or six different colours – blue, orange, red, white, yellow & green. The tumblers were called Swanky Swig Glasses by Kraft. The name stuck and that’s what we know them as today. These puzzles measure 13cm x 10cm. They may date to around 1954 – the time of the Melbourne Olympics.
