Vintage Steelite Fishing Tackle Box. Bakelite. No damage. Measures approximately 13cm diameter x 5cm in height. Circa 1950’s – 1960’s. Mottled green/brown in colour depending on the light.
Stuart & Allwood from Sydney, Australia were successful in patenting their first fishing reel in 1931.When they ceased production in 1987 over one million fishing reels had been manufactured and sent all over the world – many exported to New Zealand, Canada and the United Kingdom. Along with fishing reels they manufactured accessories, such as this fishing gadget box – handy for hooks, sinkers and lines you could hold in different compartments and two layers. Collectable today as examples of early Bakelite plastic & fishing history. Form & Function.
