Dave Stephens was a long distance runner, known during his career as The Flying Milkman for his milk delivery round in West Footscray. He set the six mile world record on 25th January, 1956 with a time of 27 minutes and 54 seconds. Prior to the Summer Olympics Dave suffered a heel spur injury and finished 20th in that event.
