Tektites (rocks that have travelled through space)
Tektites are Rocks that have travelled through space! These pieces of natural glass are named from the Greek word ‘tektos’, which means molten. They are formed when terrestrial debris is ejected into space by meteorite impacts. Most of them are quite small, and some are only a few millimetres in diameter and known as microtektites. Apparently there are fakes of these on the market. Rest be assured our resident gemologist has had quite a few of these under his special lights and equipment. They all passed the test as the real deal. Your tektite box measures 4cm x 5cm and typically contains three tektites.
