Teddy Bear – Sergeant Grey Wilson
Limited Edition Teddy Bear Great War Great-coat Bear. Dressed against the cold. There were 5,000 released. Sgt. Wilson represents the standard issue khaki woolen coat worn by officers and enlisted men of the Australian Imperial Force in all theatres of war. He wears a ‘Brodie’ helmet and carry bag for the Phenate Hexamine (PH) anti gas helmet first issued to the A.I.F in 1916. The black over blue diamond shaped colour patch is that of the 25th Infantry Battalion of 2nd Division. The 25th was raised in Queensland in 1915. After Gallipoli it was the first Australian Battalion to arrive in France. Their first major battle on the Western front was at Pozieres in July 1916. In September 1918 the battalion was one of several ordered to disband to reinforce others, but the troops mutinied and the 25th went on to fight one last Autumn battle at Beaurevoir before it was disbanded on 12th October 1918.Teddy Wilson measures 40cm in height and comes in a clear presentation box with certificate/information card.
