Hand painted ceramic jug by artist Lorna Bailey, in the Art Deco style of Clarice Cliff.  Circa 1966.  19cm high.  No damage.

Lorna atrtended Stoke on Trent College after school and then joined her fathers business LJB ceramics at the Old Ellgreave Pottery, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, which produced Toby Jugs and other decorated pottery.  Lorna worked as a painter and began designing a series of cottage and trees and abstract patterns based on the pottery of Clarice Cliff.  They were produced by the Old Ellgreave Pottery in underglaze colours and put into full production in December 1995 when Lorna was 17.  In addition to having a factory mark, Lorna signed almost all of her pieces.  A Lorna Bailey Collectors Club was formed in 1998.   In 2001 the LJB closed and reopened in 2003 as Lorna Bailey Artware.  In 2008 the shop and pottery production ceased.
