Ellis Pottery – Set of Six Herb Cannisters



Handmade in Melbourne, Australia by a couple who emigrated out from Czechoslovakia. Ellis Pottery was set up in 1953 and operated until the late 1970’s. These cannisters with a hand cut and fitted cork lids were part of a kitchen benchtop set originally purchased in 1969. There is no damage to six.  There is a bonus free seventh cannister which has been reglued expertly.  Bright orange & brown with just a touch of blue in the drip glaze. Currently back in vogue along with all things retro. Cannisters measure 9cm high.  I don’t think they have ever been used.  They do not have names on them, which means you can use them for whatever you like.  They could for example contain your stationery – paper clips, tacks, rubber bands etc…
