Description

Eight different Diminutive Glass Buttons approx 8mm in size.  Light Beige colour and self shanks.

Diminutive buttons include the very finest small glass and jewel buttons made between 1860 – 1900.  They were used as decorative buttons down front or back of a garment, on gloves and shoes.  Many were made into charm strings of 1,000 buttons by young ladies who believed that when the string was complete, her Prince Charming would come along to marry her.  Most of the buttons were given to them by aunts and friends.  The girls would meet and gift or swap their buttons.  They were not allowed to buy them.
