Description

Each campaign badge measures 2cm diameter.  On the back the history of the campaign is outlined.

‘Most Australian military units were deployed overseas in 1940 and 1941 were sent to the Mediterranean and Middle Eastwhere they formed a key part of the Commonwealth forces in the area.  The three AIF infantry Divisions sent to the Middle East saw extensive action, as did the RAAF squadrons and warships in this theatre.  Australia’s divisions fought in Greece, Crete, Lebanon and North Afric, including their notoriety at Tobruk and El Alamein, and RAAF squadrons and RAN warships distinguished themselves throughout the region.

Whilst the AIF was withdrawn after the second Battle of El Alamein, the RAAF, RAN and hundreds of Australians attached to the Commonwealth forces continued to play a part in Allied efforts in North Aftrica, the Mediterranean and the landings in Italy.
