Description

Each campaign badge measures 2cm diameter.  On the back the history of the campaign is outlined.

‘Following the attack on New York and outbreak of the War on Terror in 2001, Australia joined the ‘coalition of the willing’ in 2003 and invaded Iraq to overthrow Saddam Hussein.  The Australian and US Governments still had concerns that Iraq was concealing Weapons of Mass Destruction and had links with terrorist groups, despite trade sanctions still in effect since the First Gulf War in 1991.  Despite strong public opposition to entering the war, Australian troops did an outstanding job in providing security for diplomatic and government personnel.  Our soldiers have helped train the new Iraqi armed forces, vital to restoring peace as the country edges towards stability. A RAN presence in the Middle East is still maintained.’
