Baldelli Italian Tankard – with damage

Baldelli Ceramics have been made in Citta di Castello, near Perugia, Italy, since 1943.  It’s a fourth generation family business, begun by Dante Basldelli, who began his career as a ceramist in the 1920’s and became director of Ceramica Rometti di Umbertide until he opened his own workshop in 1943.  Many of their products were purchased by US department stores during the 1970’s.

This tankard measures 11.5cm in height.  It is stamped Baldelli Italy on the base with a hand applied number 11/527.  Sadly there is a tiny chip to the base rim, which is why the price has been reduced.  On the bright side it’s flaming yellow, orange and red colours will brighten up your home, whether you use it for drink, as a vase or a utensil holder.
