Enamel Badge measures 2cm wide x 1cm high.  The information on the back of the card reads, ‘Beginning life as part of the British garrisons and colonial units, the modern Australian Army began to takeshape during the Second Boer War in South Africa in 1899when soldiers from throughout the country were brought together to serve in the Australian Regiment.  After Federation in 1901, the troops were transferred into the new Australian Army.  Since then our brave diggers have gained a reputation around the world as tenacious soldiers, capable of overcoming massive odds and often larger enemy forces in many corners of the globe.  The Aussie Diggers have been a foundation of our national identity since they stormed ashore at Gallipoli in 1915 and still proudly serve our nation both at home and internationally, often in difficult circumstances.’
