This Australian Ten Dollar Commemorative Banknote has never been out of its presentation folder. The Bicentenary $10 note was only in circulation for one year – 1988 – to commemorate Australia’s Bicentenary. 200 years since the arrival of the First Fleet of British convict ships at Botany Bay and Sydney Cove. This event signified the founding of the colony of New South Wales, the first colony in what would become the nation of Australia.
This banknote was also the world’s first polymer banknote ever created. The commemorative banknotes like these were printed with an ‘AA’ serial number. Those that went into circulation for just one year, were printed with an ‘AB’.
The banknote measures 15.5cm x 7.5cm. There are four available. Whilst the commemorative folders are in good condition, the white envelopes that contain them have a little foxing to the paper. If this concerns you please get in touch and we can send extra photos.
