Description

Australia changed over from imperial to decimal currency in 1966.  This one dollar note was one of the very first printed.  It has a AAA serial number.  The notes were released on Valentines Day, 14th February, 1966, with the title ‘Commonwealth of Australia’.  The signatures are those of Coombs & Wilson. This ‘Commonwealth’ Banknote was in circulation until 1974, when the design changed.  During this time 657 million were minted, the AAA’s belong to the first one quarter million.  Approximately 250 thousand made.  Considering it’s age it’s in excellent condition, retaining colour and hardly soiled.
